Book launch of "I Bought a Bus - A Memoir of love, resilience & adventure" by Belinda Adams OAM.
Synopsis
I Bought A Bus is a moving and inspiring memoir of resilience and recovery; it’s a story about the power of a mother’s love, and how life can lead us towards our dreams.
It had a bit of rust, and more than a bit of wear and tear, but there it was, the bus of Belinda Adams’ dreams.
The old Brisbane City Council bus was to become a travelling billboard, touring Australia to raise awareness of the devastating effects of brain injury, the journey of recovery, and the prejudices that continue to harm those with invisible disabilities.
In 2012 Belinda Adams’ nineteen-year-old son Dylan sustained a traumatic brain injury in a near-fatal car accident in Brisbane. Belinda was suddenly a full-time carer. Over the years of Dylan’s rehabilitation, she became an advocate for brain injury survivors and their carers.
Belinda Adams has since co-founded three arts-based rehabilitation programs and realised her childhood dream to work in the film and television industry.
